The Japanese Accept Pots and Declarations
The Japanese had tried themselves to develop a bomb unsuccessfully on August the 5th or 6th. Did they know, did they sense that America had a usable bomb? Yes. They didn't want again denial. Even then it wasn't a complete surrender because they wanted to keep their emperor sovereign,. and Washington refused to go along with that. So the Japanese had to surrender a second time.
