The Benefits of Associative Learning

An example of an AI system that probably many people are familiar with is the texting app, you know, on your smartphone. It's remarkable because as you type in a word, it suggests two or three other words that are most likely going to be the word that you're going totype next. But if you don't select any of them, it reduces their probability. And if you suggest a word that it would not have anticipated, it remembers that and then assigns that to an increasingly higher probability each time you type that one word.
