The History of the Kleiben Cat

There's a famous Kleiben drawing of a cat sitting on a stool playing a guitar and singing the song, I like to eat them mousies. Something about the cat being fat struck us as funny then because, you know, pretty much the very first Garfield book is called Garfield at large. Can you guys believe it? He's fat, this cat. And of course, those Garfield books went on to sell something like 200 million copies. But that culture of the 80s, which by the way, Jim Davis created, he pioneered the Garfield format, which is the book that is actually a horizontal paperback.
