Alexias had a real problem with legitimacy because of the way he came to the throne. His army had sacked Constantinople when they took over in 1081. And his constant defeats and all of these plots against him were always kept him on the defensive. So there's some dubious qualities there, yeah. But overall, a very impressive person ruled for almost 40 years.
