The Story of Jesus Christ

The birth of jesus meant that god willingly chose to become a story teller from within, from the inside, not from the outside. When it was time for him to begin his ministry, jesus did not start with teaching or miraculous spectacle but instead with forty days of fasting alone in the wilderness. Jesus made the biblical story a grand salvation drama that gets worked out from within. A victorious but un suffering god is not good news. You see, human beings are meaning seeking creatures. And the greatest disturbance to our self story telling, our search for meaning, is the suffering that intrudes and interrupts.
