The Argentinian Stardust
Some Argentinians believe the Stardust was a plane filled with German war criminals. Because of its cultural ties to Germany, Argentina favored the Axis powers during World War II. The government may have whisked the ruins away so no one would know there were Nazis on board. Plus they'd be able to keep the gold for themselves.
