The White Cube show exemplifies Marguerite's ongoing themes. It imagines a post-human future in which insects inherit the earth, yet it also offers the example of collectivity and interdependence as a means by which humans might avert the potential catastrophe that awaits us. Is her work ultimately pessimistic or optimistic? I think it's optimistic because for me this show is not necessarily only about insects inheriting earth after us. It's more spiritual, it's about is there a way that we could merge within the greater whole of life and maybe that is actually where we should be heading I guess conceptually.
