Linguist deborah tannin coined the term 'interrupting' to describe what some people call interrupting. She argues that in contemporary culture, all inte rupting has been deemed bad because it's all about a power move. Some regions and some ethnicities interrupt more than others. New yorkers tend to step on each other's sentences more than those from minnesota or California. Unsurprisingly, this often codes as ethnic writes.
