Career Advice for Young Scientists?

i always wanted to be a teacher. My plan was to be a science teacher. At the last minute, i did a master's degree in historyof science at cambridge just for fun... and now it's my career. I could have done it from a different path. On the other hand, i really love being a scholar. And of course, i have a british ph d, which is only three or four years long,. Which is very different from an american style phd. So i think that was important for me too, that i did it cause i was enjoying it - not necessarily because i wanted to become a professor.
