The Perversiveness of Homophobia
After 2014, I truly understood how my identity is something that ranks way less than actual deplorable crimes in Nigeria. There was a mass exodus away from the dating act because we wanted to protect ourselves. But then after a while, I went and sat calm down some. And then I met someone who had been talking for a while and trying to arrange a meeting. He told me he was on the app to target gay people. Here were people actually hunting us on the dating apps. That was when I felt all sorts of things. I felt pain and I felt anger and I felt fear and I just felt on Nigerian. It was moments in my life.
