The book features three epigraphs that set up the whole, really, the arc of the book. The first is from lishzn, the anarchist and a republican revolutionary who said in 19 o seven, in the kind of social darwin language of the day, evolutionary theory says that the inferior shall be gotten rid of. It was from none other than luchin, who is widely regarded as the greatest no chinese writer of the twentieth century. And he echoes this idea, actually, three decades later, if the chinese script does not go china will certainly perish. There wese something compositional and physically challenging about the chinese language. Takes more time to learn.
