Modernity has taken many essential human functions and shifted them to the market. A person 200 or 300 years ago would have had many close contacts, they probably would have known many of them. But now those relationships are very optional. And as the pendemic set in, it dawned on us that people trapped without even a single person that they could look in the eye and say, is this making sense to you? It's like er stalen isolated his population because he knew that they were much more vulnerable for propaganda than he intentionally did.
