Bodan's absolutist approach to sovereignty allowed him to make this breakthrough. For him, all authority lies ultimately with the sovereign and everyone else is on a par in being a subject. The full implications of Bodan's ideas would not be clear for quite some time. But he did have a great impact on his contemporaries and immediate successors.
