How to Set Up Student Self-Regulation
Student self-regulation is going to be by its nature and slightly imperfect. Once you've decided what your expectations are, this is quick to rough down as a school. The next thing is just to consistently reinforce them. There's continual narration of it. If you want students to walk on the left-hand sides of a corridor, you need members of staff down there. Beyond that, you've got positive and negative reinforcement. Students who really embody your values should be postcards home, phone calls home, praise, awards - they're particularly useful with younger kids.
