The Dark Matter Halo Around the Milky Way Galaxies

Without dark matter, nothing like the Milky Way galaxy would have ever formed. We now know that these dark matter halos formed well before our galaxies did. It was actually the gravity of these darkmatter halos that pulled in the atoms that would go on to make the visible parts of our galaxies.
