Jeffrey Toobin: One of the promises of liberal arts education is that professors will help model what it is to be a citizen in a democratic society. He says if we can't do that as tenured professors, how are we possibly expecting our students to embrace their civic roles? Toobin: If we really believe in an idea in the magic of the liberal arts experience, especially a residential liberal arts college, there is something wonderful about it. Then let's take it seriously.
