In the 50s, psychoactive drugs were even named by Freeman as chemical lobotomies. There was one particular drug which was used by over 2 million people in one year. The time in which your brain won't use glucose and use a secondary energy source is in prolonged starvation periods. And did you know 60 to 80% of this glucose is used just for the sodium potassium ATPase pumps? I had no idea. Now you do. Brain uses 20% of the entire body's glucose supplies. That's a fair bit considering the brain only weighs 1-2%. It'll hog for glucose.
