The Provisional Government

The new provisional government was drawn from the senior leadership of the progressive block, most of whom had been sitting on the unofficially convened provisional executive committee of duma delegates. For months, newspapers had openly published lists of what leaders would take over which ministries. So while the revolution, of course caught them by surprise, they had been expecting to get this call for years now. The general public had also been waiting for these guys to become the government for months now, or years. And when the news finally started to spread, the Provisional Government enjoyed broad support from the right and from the left.
