The High Raiding Party of the Eighth Century

According to chronicles and sagas this raiding party was led by a charismatic leader raghnar who may or may not have been a real historical personage. In 847 king horek of denmark sent a party to sack homburg in germany but shortly thereafter diseases devastated his country as well. The three frankish kingdoms that had come out of the breakup of the empire agreed to cooperate in order to send a joint embassy to horek  to urge him to suppress the raiding on the west. Ultimately he rebuffed them and intermittent raids on the west continued with some small abeyance in the eight hundred fifties.
