The Fallacy of Argumentation in Philosophy
In any other field, if someone were to argue, well, all my favorite people are all the people whose authority I recognize believe this. Therefore, that's true - it doesn't follow. But only in theology do suddenly fallacious modes of reasoning become perfectly acceptable. When we start doing dogmatic theology, this part of our mind shuts off. And what previously we would recognize as a fallacy becomes a perfectly legitimate mode of argumentation.
