The Nature of Numbers
Mathematicians are exploring the nature of numbers and they're beginning to realize that it's a real Pandora's box. And pie is sitting there as a kind of peak in the mathematical landscape. It's a it's a Mount Everest of numbers, you suspect all sorts of interesting things about it. The challenge to the mathematician is to climb the mountain. You know what the formula is, but you don't know why it's true. But after enormously complicated and long struggle, it turned out this is the case that pie is transcendental.
