How Do Atoms Come From?

Most of the chemical elements are forged inside stars. Sun's power comes from fusion of hydrogen into helium. At end of its life, once core has been turned into carbon and oxygen, it will waft its outer layers out into space. This is a planetary nebula called boti nebula which looks like our own solar system five or six billion years in the future. It's these kinds of stars that are responsible for making the Carbon in our apple pie - and indeed in all of us.
