The Dialogue Between Humans and the Landscape

In the New Kingdom, so sort of 1700 BC, we have really big civil engineering projects to dig out canal here. It is absolutely fascinating how creative humans are about managing the landscape. And sometimes you see a less edifying response. So in the so-called first intermediate period about 4000 years ago, we have lamentation literature where they're just complaining. That's something I was going to say that exactly. We're always going to complain. But that's definitely not a new thing.
