I used to work on h two six four a lot, and therewas his really good software implementation called x two, six, four. And it could just about manage like real time, ten 80 p on modern intel processes of the time. In order for it to achieve that sort f performance, you had to turn off lots and lots and lots of code features. We didn't have to compromise so much on the features to do that. With hardware. We could pick the features that made difference, that got us to the bit rate, and they could run in real time. You just couldn't do that real time in software.
