I'm very positive myself about interdisciplinary work. I think it's easy to do it badly. If a person working in discipline a tries to write a paper that's interdisciplinary between disciplines a and b, then you get a lot of rubbish being written. But i think if you're willing to genuinely engage in the other discipline, by whichi mean, i really get under the skin of how people in that other discipline think and why,. there is some intellectually interesting, low hanging fruit to be found there.
