What Makes a Game Meaningful?
In any art form, in any creative form, you're taking an activity and you are doing it for its own sake. For games, I think that core activity is thinking and doing. It's just like being an agent in the world who is solving problems and trying to reach their goals. And we are just, that's a thing that we are obviously embedded in. That's just the wellspring that games come from. But then different kinds of games take that in different directions and create new kinds of beauty or meaning with that as the underlying kind of material reality that is being shaped.
