The Tea Industry in Japan

In 20 11, japanese people drank about a hundred and 20 million tons of the stuff. But that is less than the 400 million tons of coffee they drank in that year. Coffee has become the dominant caffinated drink in JAPAN. Still, what it lacks in raw numbers, tea makes up for in tradition. It's still hard to separate from this idea of traditional japanese culture.
