Most of the asteroids in our neck of the woods are located in the asteroid belt between agypta and mars. But every so often they kind of jostle and they get kicked in towards the sun. And these e the ones that we're more worried about. There's a subset that we call near earth objects, which come within forty five million kilometers of the earth's orbit. That's about a hundred times the distance between the earth and the moon.
