What Drives a Stock Price to Increase Over Time?

In the short term, you have to think of the stock market as an ongoing live auction. The more eager bidders are to buy that item, the higher the price goes. But occasionally news can come out and it can have a severe impact on the day to day price movements of a stock. Good news does not automatically mean the stock's going to go up.
