The Evolution of Biospheres

"This is a great opportunity for us to talk about the evolution of biospheres and I don't know whatever else comes up," he says. "The adjacent possible is given what's actually around now what can come to be next, what can arise next." He adds that once there are mammals, hominids are in the adjacent possible of the biosphere. And it doesn't go the other way: Once there are prokaryotes, archaea and bacteria, multicelled organisms are in the 'acquired possible' The term was coined by physicist Richard Palmer but no one has ever used it more widely.
