The Buddha says attachment is a response to lack of proper attachments. In capitalist society, the view of human nature is that people are selfish greedy aggressive competitive individualists. But as we evolved our needs were for connection collaboration and community care connection. The whole conception that we're sold of who we are is a false conception. That's why I call it toxic.
