Introduction
The Art Institutes began in 1921 in Willis-Shuk Studio with only nine students. The school even turned out quite a few notable artists as well, such as award-winning watercolorist Frank Webb,. Tom Wilson, a cartoonist for the Ziggy Comic Strip, graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1955. Rick Calabash, also known as Rick Snyder, is said to have graduated from the school as well as science fiction illustrator Frank Kelly Freeze. They claim to offer practical courses in advertising, illustration, photography, drawing, fashion and dress design.
