Hugo von Hofmann Stahl had a lot of sources that he was gaining inspiration from. This one is more of a melange I would say. A lot of gerta in there there's some Faust as we've mentioned. There's also gerta has a very lesser known work called conversations with German refugees or immigrants and in that it's a novella. They tell a lot of traditional German fairy tales not ones that you've ever heard before but same sort of stuff that appears here.
