The History of Joy Division

Joy Division is a reference to Nazis forcing women into sexual slavery during World War II. Peter Hook and Steve Morris of Joy Division were actually questioned by police in connection with their investigation trying to catch this serial killer. The band chose these names in an attempt to reference the horrors of fascist violence and not celebrate it. But the thing about Nazis is they think fascist violence is awesome.
