The Value of Contestation

The idea that you could agree to treat something as a fact for the purposes of a policy deliberation, while continuing perhaps to not believe it or to privately doubt it. And so I mean, and I suppose that's, and that's something that I try to push through later in the book where I talk about sort of institutions and practices of contestation. But part of the value of contestation is that it encourages a reflective relationship, right, that encourages this, the possibility of reflective acceptance instead of saying just blind belief or disbelief.
