How to Diagnose Mono
Most cases are caused by the Epstein bar virus or EBV. Other viruses such as human herpes virus six, adenovirus and herpes simplex can also cause an illness that resembles mono. Mono is spread through close personal contact with an infected person by way of saliva. The incubation period specifically for EBV is 32 to 49 days during which the person is contagious.
