Passing Off Goods That Aren't Good as Good
As mass society becomes more and more dominant, i think this is something that we really saw taking off in the fifties and sixties. Quality goods require limited things in order to first manufacture them. And so we don't have enough, we're going to pass something off that's lousy as something that's good. Cosmopolitanism serves as a way to stop people from being able to discriminate between those things which belong to me and those who don't.
