A Tree Stump Is Not Dead, It's a Tree

Farmer-managed natural regeneration is being used in more than 18 countries across Africa. In Trelency, a district in northern Ghana, this knowledge is now being passed down to the region's children. After 20 years through studying satellite imagery, scientists discovered there are about 5 million hectares of farmland supporting around 200 million trees without planting a single tree. The reforestation of the landscape in Niger can be seen on satellite images from space.
