Operating partners are getting more involved in due diligence pre-closed. It really varies whether an operating partner might actually take a seat on the board at a portfolio company. Putting yet another person from the private equity firm on the board starts to get too insular. They need to get experience sitting in board meetings in a meaningful way, other than just being an observer.
