In the Book of Mormon, Alma's son Corianton had similar questions concerning the justice of God in the punishment of the sinner. In verse 14, John. Nahum says, in the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee. I think we're reading that he's going to take vengeance on his adversaries and also that God is good. All behavior is going to have a consequence, but God is long suffering.
