Cicero vs Seneca

i not love this translation, buti have another one on hand. i think you see that a little bit here in this letter too, if you compare seneca's use for study versus cicero's. These two things don't necessarily contradict, but they're written in totally different keys. For seneca, the city, eh, who cares? It's meo. I'm going to be sufficient unto myself. Cicero seems in this way, more traditionally roman. Why is poetry good? Because it is going to produce heroic men who will conquer.
