The New South Wales Consent Model
The laws will mean that a person does not consent to sexual activity unless they say, do something to communicate that consent. And an accused person's belief in consent will not be reasonable unless they said or did something to ascertain that consent. Even though these laws have passed in new south wales, they did face opposition. Saxon: What about the rest of the country? Is affirmative consent something that's likely to be adopted elsewhere? The victorian government announced last week that they would also be amending their laws to an affirmative consent model.
