The History of the Hittite Kingdom

The Hittites entered Anatolia from the Indo-European homeland north of the Black Sea sometime around 2000 BC. The Hittite kingdom soon evolved into a great empire, and it took a place beside Egypt and Assyria as a major political power in the Near East. It reached its peak in the 14th century BC, and it expanded its power to the south into Syria at the expense of the Egyptians.
