Emergency Medicine Cases

CHAPTER

What Is HENOC, Schoinlein, Perpra, and HSP?

HENOC Schoinlein Perpra is the most common vasculitis in children. It's caused by a deposition of IgA immune complexes in the walls of small blood vessels. Most cases are seen in kids under 10 and it does seem to have an infectious trigger because it often comes after a URTI. The biggest morbidity for this illness is from kidney involvement with about 1% of kids going on to end stage renal disease.
