China used to take a lot of the garbage rate, and then they stopped a few years ago. The vast majority of this stuff that customers are diligently returning isn't being turned into new products for tesco. Its being exported over seas. Its being burnd in incinerators andot. Is part of the problem. A plastic is a wonderful material, particularly for selling food in because it's er impermeable to water. But if you just bury it or leave it, it takes thousands of years to degraded. So it's not a great situation.
