The lie is a domestic drama, very short. Takes place almost in real time in a suburban house and is a very intense piece of writing about characters in conflict. Her characterizations are fantastic. Some of the staging is arguably a bit, you know, she refined her approach to theatre as she got to know her craft throughout her life. She always wanted to be a playwright. And she says many times that she prefers or preferred writing plays to writing novels. But she only really established herself as a playwright in the 1950s when she was in her 60s.
