The Struggle With a Gambling Addiction
I would have seen myself as a devout Muslim who was living with a gambling addiction. My actions to fund the addiction meant that there was a lot of shame involved in it, so I was borrowing money from friends and family for purposes which they had not agreed to give it for. So, it was completely against my values or the values which I sought to live my life with. That kind of compounded the struggle, compounded the mental health impacts which I experienced. Yes, I was hiding it, I was lying about it.
