The Differences Between Professor Rose and Me

Al Bloom: I think the differences between Professor Rose and myself are really more pragmatic than that. We both believe that either a literary work has very strong aesthetic and cognitive value or it need not engages. For me the heart of Hamlet is when he manifests so strongly that he will not as he says like a whore unpack his heart with words. If we were a feminist criticism would move in and say can we please unpack the language? Yes but the criticism forgive me my dear would not be of me but of Hamlet.
