How to Treat a GSW Patient

In most cases, call your regional trauma center early so they can guide on the management of these patients. With GSWs, there's usually cavitation in a track is visible, so it's easy to follow on CT. Gunshot wounds can travel quite far and the trajectory is sometimes unknown. You shouldn't be surprised to see bullet fragments on a chest x-ray despite the entry wound in the abdomen. If for some reason imaging occurs before transport, it's going to be a chest abdomen and pelvis.
