The Relationship Between the Oil and the Local Bird Life
Oil was identified in the area about a century ago. The discovery and scare quotes really quickly turned the course of how the area was developed. And so that wealth becomes very important in generating, you know, real estate and other kinds of sort of building LA literally. But my story begins in the maybe 1960s approximately 1970 with the rise of the modern environmental movement.
